Complete in Him

By: Oreofe Ogunnubi

I am reminded of a story I once heard from my sister. It happened on one of those days when the downpour was so heavy, the kind of rain that starts immediately you step your foot out in the early hours of the morning, heading to work. You know when you start the journey to work and you have reached a point of no return and the heavens just opens her mouth and begins to rain down uncountable blessings. Remember at those times of our humble beginnings, there were no staff buses (I’m sure the young ones can’t relate lol), Omo you have to be drenched to the skin with the blessings of God o.

Anyways, this story is of this certain lady who happened to be a victim of one of those heavy rainy mornings and had to get to the office drenched. I heard that as she got into the office with all the anger and frustration, she burst into tears and was lamenting that if only she was married, she wouldn’t have been in a situation where she had to be beaten by the rain.

Huh??! That was my reaction. She apparently thought that if she was married, her husband would probably have appeared like Superman and saved her from the precarious situation lol, or maybe more practicably drop her off at work every day even if it was not on his way which could possibly have happened but girl wake up oh because the fairy tale era is gone.

My point is, as daughters of the most High God and his precious son, Jesus, combined with the Holy Spirit in us, we do not need any human or any form of human possessions (clothes, cars, human hair, jobs etc.) to complete us. We are already complete in Him the moment we surrender our lives to Jesus. Remember, a man’s LIFE does not consist of the abundance of possessions he owns (Luke 12:15). Jesus also admonishes us in Matthew 6:33 to seek FIRST the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added to us.  So my ladies, do not seek the things or possessions that you think will complete you because the truth is that they lack absolute power to sustain your life and help you live victoriously in this world but genuinely seek God who is the giver of all these things and I guarantee you that these things will follow in good time because the lord knows when you need these things and how He would provide them as you need them.

Surrender to a life of peace and beauty in the Lord, not to a life of struggle and vanity. Let me leave you for now with a few scriptures to ponder on…
Psalm 37:37 – “Mark the blameless man and observe the upright; for the future of that man is peace.”
Psalm 39: 4 & 5 – “Lord, make me to know my end and what is the measure of my days that I may know how frail I am. Vs 5; Indeed you have made my days as hand breadths and my age is as nothing before You; certainly every man at his best state is but vapor.”

Food for thought: If a man’s life at his best state is as vapor (Very short), why don’t I surrender my life to the Lord to make it worthwhile?

Lmao! the superman statement and fairy tale aspect cracked me up.
Great reminder too. My life does not consist of the material possesions I have. Indeed I’m complete in Christ, lacking NOTHING!!!.
